Easy Use System Simply lift the top caps on one side and slide the top panel up the groove of the posts and out, you can take out 4 of the 5 panels from one side and dig out or rotate your compost very easily. It is the same for all four sides.
We also have an upgrade product for the Compost Bin which is the Tekplas Compost Bin Lid
Length and Width: 92cm
The bin is made from hollow PVC extrusions which insulate the compost, retaining the heat and aid in generating good quality compost. When you need to empty or transfer the compost the individual panels can be lifted to enable digging out.
The Kit Consists Of The Following
20 x T&G Panels
4 x Posts
4 x Caps
4 x Top Panel Brace Bars
4 x 700mm Galvanized Ground Spikes = If choosing to fit on grass or soil (Ground types can vary)
16 x Screws and Screw caps = If you choose the patio option due to fitting on hard ground
Our ground spikes are knocked into the ground and then our post slides over the top and the ground spike can’t be seen. The ground spike gives the compost bin great structural strength. Some ground types are much harder than others. So you may have to dig and concrete the spikes into the ground due to your ground type.
The Best Method For Composting
We have used these bins ourselves some having been in service for over 10 years and are still working well today with almost no maintenance required at all.
Set up on your bin on gravel or a surface that will allow airflow underneath cover the top of your compost with a loose-fitting cover that will allow water to pass through.
We use a piece of old hessian carpet to hold in the heat but will pass rainwater
Try to allow airflow underneath via large stones or gravel, this will also allow drainage.
Try to keep the garden waste /cuttings etc cut up as small as possible to speed up composting. Mix the composting materials and introduce some vegetable kitchen waste and a small amount of garden soil, or a composting aid with each layer of composting materials that you add to your bin.
Try to rotate the layers (if possible). If you have bought the extension bins remove some of the separating panels and drag the materials across to the empty bin (using a rake) occasionally to aerate the compost. Adding a little garden soil each time you do this will rapidly increase the rate of decomposition.
- We as a business are trying to help the environment so our compost bins are made from a percentage of recycled PVC, so the panels can vary slightly in colour and have the odd blemish.
